New Directions in Measurement and Control

The National Telford Institute Advanced Research Workshop in partnership with the Scottish Sensor Systems Centre invites academia, industry and government to attend the forthcoming event:
Wireless Sensor Networking and its Engineering Applications:
New Directions in Measurement and Control

Workshop and Seminar programme
23-24 October 2013
University of Aberdeen
The development of wirelessly networked sensors promises to provide a breakthrough in the acquisition and management of various types of engineering data.  The capabilities of wireless sensor networks (WSN) are permitting applications of measurement and control which would be difficult or impossible otherwise.

Workshop objectives
To bring together, from within Scotland and further afield, those involved in:
·                      Theory and practice of sensors and their networking
·                      Sensor applications in engineering
·                    Engineering research (particularly civil, structural and environmental engineering), who would like to explore the possible benefits of WSN

Papers are invited which address any aspects of WSN, including: networking, security, clustering, distributed processing, energy minimisation, sensor development, and engineering applications.Applications in the areas of civil, structural and environmental engineering are specially sought. The emphasis will be on the capabilities offered by networks of sensors.Nevertheless, novel standalone sensors and applications are also of interest if their networking potential can be demonstrated. To support the workshop aim, papers should include a tutorial element.Papers can be from researchers in academia, industry, or government.

Papers reporting work in progress or informal ideas are equally welcome.

Abstracts (1 page) are requested, preferably in PDF.Please state whether oral or poster presentation. These should be sent to: Dr Alastair R Allen, School of Engineering, University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen, AB24 3UE, Scotland, UK.Email: telford-wsn@abdn.ac.uk

Important dates:

Extended abstracts due: 6 September 2013

Notification of acceptance: 13 September 2013

Final manuscript due: 30 September 2013.
