Remote Sensing and Satellite

Communication that involves the use of an active or passive satellite to extend the range of a communications, radio, television, or other transmitter by returning signals to earth from an orbiting satellite. For example, researchers like Prof Gorry Fairhurst of the University of Aberdeen have rejected the philosophy that QoS will somehow solve the deployment of multimedia across arbitrary Internet paths in an Internet voice and video transport over challenging Internet paths, since this focuses on sharing capacity with other Internet applications and on the impacts of using links with limited or variable capacity, links with a variable bit error ratio, and mobility/disruptive changes in capacity.
